Christmas Trivia Question #11

Christmas Eve! Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions? We don't, persay. This year, we'll be celebrating Christmas with my dad's side of the family on Christmas Eve, so we'll get together, eat a lot of food (this year, having breakfast for dinner has been discussed), play games, and exchange Secret Santa type gifts. All of the grandkids in my family (we still all call ourselves "the grandkids" or "the cousins" despite my 19 year old sister being the youngest) have these really beautiful stockings that were made for us when we were born. I think they're beautiful, and I hope to someday find someone to remake them for my eventual kids.

But enough mushy stuff! It's party time! Christmas is tomorrow, and we've only got two days left to enter in the 12 Days of Christmas giveaway!

Here is the answer to yesterday's trivia question:
Q: Which American department store created Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as a promotional tool?
A: Montgomery Ward. And they almost scrapped the idea because the red nose was often associated with drunkenness! Does anyone remember Montgomery Ward? I think there was one by my grandparents house when I was younger.

Today's Trivia Question:
Q: What was the original title of the poem "The Night Before Christmas"?

Two turtle doves...

  1. A Visit From St. Nicholas
    'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house
    Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
    The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
    In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
    The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
    While visions of sugar plums danc'd in their heads,......

  5. I love this poem/book. A Visit From St. Nicholas would have also been a great title to keep! But- the new title is good too. A friend of mine knows the whole poem by heart- so now I want to memorize it too!

    We have a family traditions of going to my mom's house on Christmas Eve. We open presents with family before all of the other guests arrive. Santa usually comes after dinner to pass out toys to all of the children. It is a lot of fun and I always look forawrd to the traditional foods that are served and the good company.

    Merry Christmas!

  6. I love that poem! No real Christmas Eve traditions other than it should be a day to rest and relax where possible. Thankfully it fell on a Saturday this time :).

    Happy holidays and all the best for 2012!
